Hi all and thanks in advance for any assistance...

CS1000 RLS 7 Issue 50

We have several cs540's connected in a large call center environment. The managers like to get up and walk around and want their headsets to beep when their phones ring.. I called Plantronics support after reading the worthless manual and they say to refer to the phone.
I checked the M3905 manual and reviewed the headset options, but nothing really says how to accomplish this. I tried searching the Avaya website too.
I know it will work because sometimes it does, but I don't know what is making it work.
I have made direct copies and put the option settings the same for both and it will work on one, but not the other. Then all of a sudden, it will stop working, on one that was working.. WTH??

I could only find an two records below on Plantronics below.Neither of them refer to the M390x range!.

At the request of customers, Nortel recently started a comprehensive test of a variety of headsets with Nortel IP Phones. Headsets were chosen from two of the leading enterprise headset vendors – GN Netcom ( and Plantronics ( – and brought into their labs for testing. Both subjective testing and objective testing were performed. For objective testing, a benchmark of ANSI/TIA-810-A-2000 audio performance was used. This objective testing included Frequency Response, Loudness, Volume Control, Noise and Distortion.

Jabra BIZ 2400 headsets are not supported and have been found to give transmission problems on 1150 IP sets

##########################################################

The headset interface on Orion AB06 differs from that used on Orion B07 (see below for part numbers). The AB06 silicon provides a different bias current for the headset microphone which has the effect of making the microphone more sensitive. This has been compensated for within the AB06 by reducing the amount of gain on the headset transmit path. However, for certain headsets the bias current change has not had the effect of making the microphone more sensitive - these headsets have a different biasing arrangement. For these headsets the transmit gain may be reduced (by up to 10dB) when used with an AB06 set.
Testing has been conducted using GN Netcom Liberation and Plantronics Polaris ranges of headsets, both of which have been found to be suitable for use. Headsets to interface with Orion AB06 should meet the following transmit and receive characteristics.

Transmit Characteristics
Sensitivity @ 1kHz-29 ± 3.5 dBV/Pa Frequency Range 200 to 4000 Hz DC Range 3 to 10 V Output Impedance 50 - 500

Receive Characteristics
Sensitivity @ 1kHz 23.5 ± 3 dBPa/V Frequency Range 200 to 4000 Hz Acoustic Limit 24 dBPa Input Impedance 150 ± 50

Doesn't make sense that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. My guess is anything on Key 0 works and anything else doesn't?
