How do you place a Photoshop template into Dreamweaver so that I can see the coding and be able to manipulate the site further in Dreamweaver? I read a tutorial about slicing. Is that what I have to do? Is it simple for a new designer?

You need to read your Dreamweaver documentation to answer those questions, as THAT is the application that you will be using.
You won't be able to read any "coding," per se regarding your Photoshop template, as there is none. In photoshop, you are dealing with images, not code. That's why I suggest you read your Dreamweaver info.

Very simple.

1)In photoshop slice up your creative using the slice tool

2) Using the File >> Save for Web feature you can optimize each slice by clicking on that slice and adjusting the levels on the righthand side.

3) Click the "OK" button on the top right and choose "Save as type: HTML and Images (*.html)" and save it to any location on your computer. (Photoshop has just created an html file for you at this point)

4) Then open up dreamweaver and go File >> Open and select that HTML file you just created.

5) Goto View >> Code and you'll see the HTML code generated by Photoshop. It's ready for you to manipluate.

Hope that answered your question.
