I'm using 7.07 Pro. I'm combining multiple pages into one large document for print.

I'm used to "placing" files in Indesign, Illy... so when I edit the original file, Ind or Illy will update the placed file or prompt me to. Is this type of function available in Acrobat? If so, should I be calling it something else?

So far I have been simply inserting the documents, but finding in some cases I might need to edit a page later. I would like to be able to edit the original and link it to the new pdf I'm making.

Is this possible?

Thank you,

Nick

The basic answer is No. PDF does not support links to external docs like ID or AI. Acrobat pro does have some editing features under Basic editing and advanced editing, that you might find useful but they're generally slow. There are other pdf editing apps but they're expensive.

Through the document menu/pages you can replace or extract, but you need to know where you put your oroginal doc.

You're really best off packaging up your ID and AI folders and use them for editing. It'll be a 1000 times easier.

jmgalvin,

That's what I suspected. Thank you for saving me the time.
