I have 'cut out' an image in Photoshop using the magic eraser and the magnetic lasso tools, ie made the background transparent. I have placed the image in Indesign onto a pink background and on screen everything is fine. But when I print it out you can see the whole box around the image. It shows as a slightly different shade of pink. Does anyone know why, or what I can do about it?

Thanks.

If yu brough a pink in from photoshop, use the eydropper tool in indesign to select that pink and make a swatch so the pinks match. Also make sure that you worked in the smae color mode in photoshop that you use in indesign. If you bring in an rgb color from photoshop and try to make a cmyk swatch in indesign, teh colors will be off. Same goes for bringing in cmyk and making an rgb swatch.

When you print, make sure that you select high quality in the transparency flattening. You should find that in the Advanced section of the print dialogue

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

...or export to pdf and print from that to your desktop printer...

Also, if the pink background is a spot colour and the imported graphic is CMYK, you will expereince this problem. Change the pink to CMYK and it should be OK.
