I have just completed a portfolio of works and find any placed PSD projects which are shape layers on a transparent background show as crude jagged black hairline edges but putting a matching solid background to it solves this. Should PSDs not be placed with transparent backgrounds?
Thanks

Sam

Hi,

Even if you use the shape layers in Photoshop (vector based) and you import that file into InDesign the shape will be rasterised.

Photoshop can print vector information to a certain quality, but when placed in InDesign you loose the quality.

If you want sharp edges you should create your shapes in InDesign or Illustrator.

hope this helps.

Thanks Carlow, shapes are already rasterised in PS, they display fine when I add a white BG layer to my project in the PS file then drop it into the Indesign project. Seems to be a problem with indesign showing layers on transparent background!
