I'm placing EPS files created in Illustrator 7.0 into Pagemaker 6.5 docs. They appear as VERY low resolution images both on screen and when printed both from my desktop printer and a postscript printer. The same file prints well from illustrator. Tiff and JPG files work just great. The EPS filter is present in the application. Can you help?

The EPS images will appear pixelated on display unless you save them with a WMF header.

They may not print well unless printed to a PS printer. One workaround is to make a PDF rather than an EPS.
The non-PS printer will not print EPS well. Another way around that is to use a TIFF header at 300DPI when converting the file from Il to EPS. This will bloat your file, however.

On the PS printer, make sure it is a real PS printer (look for the adobe (c) on the test page). If it is HP, it is more than likely a clone, do not use the adobe PPD but the default windows ps PPD if converting to PDF.

Hope one of these helps you. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

This is a helpful start. PDF files do indeed behave better that .eps but still not as good as the originial eps file.
How do I save files with different headers in Illustrator?
Thanks

Open the AI file, do an export (I am going from memory, I use CorelDRAW mostly and do not have AI here at work) under the export options you should be able to dictate a TIFF or a WMF header. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
