Hello!

I am creating a poster in illustrator. When I set up the new file in ai I chose 1024x800 for my canvass size.

The problem came when I bought a 1700x2000 (300dpi) stock photo and tried the place function to import my photo.

When I place it onto the canvass it appears very small, less than 1/4 of the size I thought it would. I tried opening the photo in ai on its own, and copying and pasting with the same problem.

My photo is the proper size, I opened it in fireworks and put it to full screen at 100% and did a screen capture which I pasted into ai and it was the right size.. I only had 1/2 the photo though because it was so big and the fireworks junk around the edges. This has happened to me on different occasions in the past :( with different photos and files).

I'm not sure what the problem is and I don't know how to double check my file size I chose when I first made my document! But I am fairly confident it was 1024x800.

I know this was very long but if anyone could offer come insignt it would make my day!!!

...it's because the image is 300dpi, turning sampling off in photoshop and changing to 72dpi will then be place in illustrator at 1700x2000 pixels...
