Hi all,

I have a PIX506 that i have recently began working with. For some reason or other, the pix keeps shutting down. The firewall is connected to a Cisco 827 ADSL router on one side and a Baystack switch on the other. Not quite sure if i am missing something in my config or not. It will generally stay live for around 30 to 40 minutes and then shut down resulting in the need to restart it.

If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you sure its shutting down, or is it just not passing traffic?

I'm not sure of the limit, but you could be hitting the connection limit of the pix's license. which could mean you have a pc or something internally chattering out to the net..

All of the lights on the front of the PIX are turning off and it will not allow me to console in until i do a hard reboot.

I am not sure about the connection limit of the license, but i will check into it.

Once i am consoled in, the PIX randomly reboots and will not get past trying to read the image from flash memory. The only way to get it to reboot it power it off and back on a few times and then it stays active for a short while.

Hi,

It's a known issue with the way the power cord fit into the socket. I believe it was something with the clip on the cord.

I don't remember the document number but if you search Cisco's support site for the words 605 and power you will get the document.

The power cord issue seems to be a probable cause of what has been happening. I followed the directions on the cisco document and the PIX seems to be working fine now. W

Thanks Lou
