Hi All,

We have a Cisco Pix protecting our 100 users NT domain. I would like to add VPN so remote users can use Outlook to access our Exchange server. Will the VPN card in my Pix handle this type of load? Salesman is trying to push me to a VPN concentrator. How do you know when you need a VPN concentrator VS just using the PIX?

What about the MS IAS server for authentication on the VPN. I have a few W2K servers I can run the software on. Again slaesman is pushing server from Funk.

What is the best client to use, Cisco's or MS. All of my users have W2K.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

First of all use the Cisco VPN client it will save you a lot of headaches.

The PIX is a security device with VPN capabilities while the VPN 3K is a VPN device. Having said that, you should be fine with a PIX (depending on the model) but if you plan to have a lot of VPN clients connecting your best bet is to get a VPN 3K concentrator.

You shouldn´t have any problems using IAS radius. Here´s a link that you may find helpful:

Hope this helps!
