I am trying to recover the password on a PIX 501. I am following the standard Cisco instructions verbatim however when I go to transfer the .bin file from the TFTP server on my laptop, nothing happens. I tried connecting to the PIX with a crossover (while still connecting via HT) but this still did not work. Anyone run into a similar situation. TIA

1) you can NOT use np52.bin on the Pix 501.

2) Pix 501 only uses version 6.x. You need to download
the np61.bin from Cisco and use it.

3) Make sure your tftp server is up and running, not just
ICMP. I mean the udp port 69 is up and running.
Furthermore, you need to have the np61.bin in the tftp
server directory.

Good Luck!
