I can't remember if this has been discussed before, and sorry for the crosspost, but a search turned up nothing so....
I have a Cisco 1701 router for Internet connectivity and a 3620 for my Frame-relay connections, and a PIX 515 with failover.
This morning I began getting very spotty pinging within my network, and slow Internet performance. I don't see much traffic on the network, but the CPU usage on the frame router was at 99%/58% (don't know what the 58 denotes).
Eventually, by process of elimination, I found that the PIXes are causing the frame router's CPU to max out. When I unplug them both, CPU usage goes down to 3%, but when I plug either one in it shoots right back up. I have tried each of them individually with the same results, so it doesnt look like a hardware issue on one of the PIXes.
I unplugged the frame T1 and the Internet T1 with the PIX still plugged in, and CPU was still at 99%, so I dont think it's anything (currently) coming in from the outside.
Any ideas?
TIA
