Is there a way to backup the PIX software to a TFTP server?

do you want to save the configurations or the IOS just the IOS? if its just configs, command line "write terminal", copy and paste to text a file - if you have to restore, command line "config terminal" and paste it back- if you want the IOS, you have to download them via cisco or whatever source you have .... hope that helped

Sounds like you're looking for a way to download the PIX OS from the device. Answer to that is no.

If you are looking to write the config to a tftp server, the command is write net xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:filename (where xxx is your tftp server IP).
