Pix doesn't seem to load balance at ALL

Ever since we installed our Cisco Pix 501, our internet connection seems to do a horrible job at load balancing.

For example,

If I am downloading a large file from a website, instantly, the entire connection is brought to a grinding halt for all other computers. It even takes google about 20 full seconds to load. Is this NORMAL???

Verify the interfaces are hardcoded to 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps full duplex on both the PIX and your Internet router. If they are set to "auto" that could be the reason.
