I know this is a basic basic question, but I can't seem to find basic help with a PIX.

I have a PIX 515r that I need to add a new route to. I've telnetted in, and done the enable and sh config to see the configuration and where I need to add some routing commands, but I don't know how to actually add the commands, then save them to the PIX.

Can someone point me to a site that explains such a basic concept? or do I need to provide more information?

Thanks.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for. I had thought it was a relatively simple procedure, but this is the first time I've had to do the changes myself for the PIX and didn't want to screw it up too bad. ;-)

Going forward remember you can always type in the ? for help in enabled mode on the PIX. If you had typed route ? it would have given you...

pix (config)# route ?

Usage: [no] route <if_name> <foreign_ip> <mask> <gateway> [<metric>]

pix (config)#

Also Grab a copy of Pixcript from yizhar's site it's a good tool for first timers to create config files and check usages of new commands Brock D. Mowry
