Pix and DHCP Client, Does it work?

I have a pix 515 firewall set up with dhcp on the outside interface.

ip address outside dhcp setroute retry 15

The interface never gets an address. if I turn on debugging I can see that it's asking for the address.

If I turn on packet capture I can see that a dhcp server is responding to each request, however the pix appears to ignore it and just sends a request again....

Anyone have an idea what's up here? Is this a known bug?

I had heard from someone that maybe it was a known bug with something to do with a multicast bit set in the packet or something but I cannot seem to find it or a fix.

By the way I'm running 6.31 Pix IOS

I use a 515 at my house with DHCP on the cable modem. Works here..

are you using a cable modem or dsl link as well?

I don't however use the "retry 15" command, but that shouldn't make a difference.

I am connecting to Verizon DSL. I have had this problem before with DHCP on the pix. It works every so often, but for the most part it will sit for days asking for an address before it will accept one.

Upgrade to 6.33 if not, call cisco and open a tac case
