Pix 515R PCI cards

I have a 515R with a probable intermittent hardware fault that we think lies in one of the on board network interfaces.

It is a 515R.

Can I stick a couple of 3Com standard PCI network cards into the box, change the nameif ethernet0 to nameif ethernet2 and 1 to 3 and I'm done or can you not do that?

Firewall down - need to get resolution quickly!!!

You can't do it. You *may* be able to do it with the correct Intel nic, but I believe you'll invalidate your warranty. Afraid I don't know the correct Intel nic to use for that model either (not that i'm suggesting doing it)

Of course, I have discovered a problem with a denial of service attack. Cisco found it around the time we first started having troubles. Maybe I just need to upgrade the IOS?

I'm running a dog old 6.0.1 which is affected by this problem.

Or am I chasing my tail?

If not, how can I get hold of a new IOS if my SmartNet is no longer active?
