I am installing 2 PIX-515E firewalls. I want to have them running in an active/standby state for failover.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to if I should be using the Serial-based failover with the cable, or if I should use one of the open ethernet ports with a cross-over cable?

Please let me know... This is my first firewall implementation.

Thanks

Here are some config examples. If avail. you should use an interface - it allows for stateful failover while the serial cable will not. The recommendation is to actually use a switch and it explains why in the docs better than I can in summary.
