Pix 515 with IOS 6.1(3), poor VPN performance

Hello,

We are using a PIX 515 with 3 ethernet cards (Wan,Dmz,lan). We also want to use VPN access to this firewall. I configured the Firewall for using PPTP with 40-bit MPPE encryption.

Everything works ok... only the access through VPN is very slow. Normal ping response time is about 100 Msec, Ping response time trough a VPN tunnel is about 500 Msec. I monitored the CPU usage of the PIX and saw that the CPU is normal between 0-10%. When starting 1 VPN connection (64Kbit)the cpu starts to consume about 70% of it's CPU power. I turned off the encryption, without any result.

Any idea..??

Dear all,

Problem has been solved..

After a restart of the PIX, the performance problem has been solved.

Look like MS windows.. ;-)
