PIX 515 ver 6.01 - logging does not work

HI.

I've encountered a PIX515 UR 6.01 box, that seems to work,
but when I try the following commands:
log buf 7
log host x.x.x.x
log trap 7

and other logging command, I get nothing in the log.
(Nothing in syslog server, and nothing when i issue:
show log)
This is also after I generated some traffic that should have been logged.

I have also tried some "debug" commands with no success.

Other then that problem, the pix seems to work fine.
(passing outbound traffic, passing incoming mail, accepting PPTP VPN clients).

Is this a hardware issue?
Have anyone else seen that problem?

Oops..

Well, I didn't enter the "logging on" command, that's correct. And I can't verify if that is the problem, because I have no access to the PIX now.

But isn't logging turned on by default?
I don't remember that I needed that command in other configuration.

No. In the PIX logging is off by default.
