Hi,

First let me state I am not a savy PIX user as most of you here, but I hope someone will take pitty on me and help.

My PIX 515 locks up weekly, it stops working and will not allow me to telnet into it, the only solution is to turn it off and turn on. This is what the previous guy was doing for a little over a year. Is something maybe turned on in the system that is maybe seeing activity it does not like? Not sure what info to submit here are some settings that I am not sure what they do also I will attach my show ver info. What is a Guard in the show ver info?

logging on
logging buffered errors
interface ethernet0 100full
interface ethernet1 auto
mtu outside 1500
mtu inside 1500
ip audit info action alarm
ip audit attack action alarm

show ver info
0: ethernet0: address is 0003.6bf6.a863, irq 11
1: ethernet1: address is 0003.6bf6.a864, irq 10

Thanks

That is it my PIX falls under 2 lock up issues, Cisco is sending a replacment.

Since I am getting a replacment, what would be the best way to export and re-import my settings? I have used TFTP in the past but have noticed it is "not supported" by cisco anymore?????

Thanks

HI.

TFTP is supported and I recommend it for your case.

In addition to TFTP, backup your "show config" output to file and paper, as a reference.

This is good.
Here in Israel, when our client had such problems with pix506, we (the dealer) had to provide a replacement unit from our own stock, pay for the shipping and taxes, and wait several weeks for the replacement unit.
At least I'm glad that it is not that way in other countries.

Bye
