Hi is there anyway I can check/monitor the incoming and outgoing bandwidth through our PIX 515 firewall? Sometimes the internet can be slow and we need to check the bandwidth usage through the firewall....

Kind Regards

Andy

The PIX really doesn't have very good information to help you determine if you're maxing your circuit. If you have something other than DSL or cable, a much better idea would be to check via your Internet router. If it's a Cisco router, do a "show int s0" to look at your serial interface (assuming it's serial0), and look at the txload, rxload, and 5 minute input and output rates.

HI.

What pix OS do you have?
What PDM version?
If you have PDM, you can monitor the traffic in realtime and few hours/days back.

A good idea is to use MRTG to monitor load on the pix and/or routers:

Both above tools will give you only the total traffic, and cannot give you details about who and what kind of traffic.
For that info, you'll need a 3rd party syslog analyzer.

Bye
