Hi All,

Hopefully somebody will be able to help me out. I have two Cisco PIX 501s and I am attempting to create a site to site VPN between them. The problem is that I appear to be unable to contact the server on the "other side" of the VPN. I have created a simple network diagram below.
From the 192.84.7.90 PC I attempt to contact the 192.168.254.10 server. The VPN light on the PIX appears but I get an error message saying that the network path cannot be found.
Hopefully somebody will be able to point me in the right direction, regarding where I am going wrong, or will be able to give me trouble shooting advice. Many Thanks.

First off

>WelshPIX Outside 194.73.102.208
are you doing NATing in two placeses? (router & PIX)

i don't thing the VPN will pass over NAT at your head-end router

disable NATing at the head-end router and allow the pix to do that work
the put side interface of the pix needs to be a public ip

2nd
>logging trap debugging

turn this down to 5 or 6
I have had problems if the logging is jacked up clogging traffic
with logging at 6 you will get enough info about the VPN with out seeing everything the pix is doing
also do show commands to get more info on the vpn processes

sh crypto sa etc...
look up the config on cisco.com and there are show commands for vpn's at the end of the documents for troubleshooting this

i will assume that you can ping each other (pix 2 pix)
if not add
access-l 101 permit icmp any any
access-g 101 in interface outside
to both PIX and it will respond to pings on the outside

this can be removed after testing is don if nessary

Good luck

Try using the command 'show crypto isakmp sa' to check whether the tunnel is being established between both PIX.

You should see something like...

Total : 1
Embryonic : 0
dst src state pending created
***.**.102.209 ***.*.198.138 QM_IDLE 0 1

If this is the case try doing pings from both ends to see where the connection is broken, it might be the server is configured with the incorrect gateway.
