PIX 501 dhcp issue

I have a PIX 501 with the default configuration out of the box that will not pull dhcp from my cable modem. The documentation indicates it should work, and I'm positive that my cable modem delivers dhcp, and that it's not based on hostname because a swap back and forth between my home pc and work laptop all of the time. Any suggestions??
