Pivot Tables

Does anyone know how many rows are allowed in a pivot table? I keep getting an error saying that I have too many rows and that it can't update the data when trying to add another field.

You probably have too many unigue rows in your data view, possibly you could query out some insignificant rows (say beyond a certain year for example) or add a filter in the upper left of the pivot table view (using the wizard) and select one of the types for that field, instead of view all
