Your question is a little too broad to be answer as stated. If you could be a little more specific. What isn't working for you?
Also, you should indicate which version of Excel you are using. 97 and 2000 have significant differences in the user interface.

Microsoft Website has some good article about Pivot Tables (how to create them, and some uses for Pivot Tables). Scroll download the page until you see the heading PivotTables.
