Hi,

I am trying to created a calculated field in a pivot table that effectively excludes two members.

The field is account and I want to create a calculated field that excludes sales but am having trouble finding whether it can be done.

To demonstrate:

Account Amount
Sales $100
Rent 10
Office Supplies 5

I want to create a calculated member called "Total Expense" within the pivot table that effectively adds up rent and office suplies for a total of $15 while excluding Sales.

Thanks

Hi,

Have you done a calculated field ever? Or is it that THIS particular calculation is a problem?

I'd be apt to make another column in my data for Expense/Income. I'd load it via a formula in my souce table, based on another table of Accounts, which I would assume, diferentiate between Income and Expense. Then the PivotTable is a piece of cake.

Thanks Skip.

Yes I have worked with them. I thought of that option but complicating it a bit further is that there are a couple stat accounts in that same account dimension.

Maybe I'm thinking of this wrong but it's not clear to me.

"...there are a couple stat accounts in that same account dimension...."

Please do not use inside jargon. Please explain clearly concisely and completely.

It is an account that is neither expense nor revenue. It tracks statistical balances such as number of boxes but is presented in the face of the pivot table/report.

Well then categorize it accordingly. But I would definitely lean toward adding a column in the source table.
