When building a pivot table, I would like to understand how to change the (Value Field Settings) in multiple columns all at one time. I often have greater than 50 values that I am working with and the default seems to be (count)and then I have to change each column to (average)one at a time.
Even if I could change the default to average it would be quicker, since average is what I mostly need to see.

hi,

WOW! "greater than 50 values"!!!

This leads me to suspect that you are pivoting a pivot.

But I could be wrong, I was wrong once...... Ha!

If you are indeed pivoting a pivot, you could solve part of your problem by NORMALIZING your data and then pivoting on that. faq68-5287.

Otherwise, changing your value aggregation is best done by a macro. First figure out EXACTLY how to change ONE, turn on your macro recorder and change ONE value aggregation setting and turn the macro recorder off. Then re-post this question in forum707 along with your recorded macro to start on a VBA solution.
