Hi All,

I have a Excel 2003 workbook which has a source sheet which I manually update
cut and paste. This source sheet then updates a sheet in the same workbook which
is part of a pivot table.

In the source sheet I append all new data.

The issue is when appending new data to the source sheet this is not picked up in
the pivot table sheet unless I click 'Refresh'.

Is there a auto refresh option which automatically updates the pivot table
with new data.

Many Thanks

I'm afraid you won't be able to do exactly what you want with native functionality. But you can with VBA (a macro).

First, two non-VBA options for you to consider:

1) Right Click on Pivot Table > Table Options > Refresh on open will cause the PT to refresh the next time the workbook is opened.

2) If your Pivot Table is linked to external data, Right Click on Pivot Table > Table Options > Refresh Every will allow you to choose how often the Pivot Table is updated.

Or you can use a Worksheet Event in VBA to trigger code that will update the Pivot Table for you. If you'd like to pursue that option, please post a new thread in forum707.
