update from this and the last thread. One printer works on idn. The other one does work but I cant get them to work. Both of them worked before I switched one workstation from a ws5 to a ws 4. I tested both printers by themselves via Idn they work. The cable I made does not work. I used the first 6 pins. from the rj 45. straight through to the 6 pin rj 11. does it mattter they are not shelided. The port says ioio not idn. One printer works on com5 idn1 before we switched from the ws5 to the ws4 everything worked fine. I even had a custom rj 12 to rj12 between printers.

I just pulled apart my (last) WS4 with working IDN printer.

WS4 side the cable goes to the RS-422 ports on the far left side.
Printer side the cable goes into the IDN 1 port.
The cable is 6 pins on both ends, color code Blue-Black-Red-Green-Yellow-Empty(?) left to right on both ends.

If you are planning on using a Cat5e cable, you would just omit pins 1 and 8 from the 568B setup.
I believe it would be the striped orange and the solid brown.

Just as an fyi, You can no longer use com 5 as an idn port on ws4lx, ws5, and ws5a.
