I have been using a TrendNet PCMCIA Fast Ethercard for flawless communication with a network using Novell.
I disabled Novell and now would like to use the card to communicate with a machine vision camera using the Microsoft Network. I have assigned the card an IP address (192.168.0.240) and a subnet mask (255.255.255.0). I have tried to ping to the card but I get a negative result. The machine vision software I am using is not able to find the machine vision camera I via the ethernet card.
The card is operating fine and appears in the Network Configuration properly.
What did I do wrong?

you are using a public address, for class C private networks it should be 192.168.1.xxx with the same subnet that will miss you up. So long and thanks for all the fish.
