pingecho() problem on perl 5.6.1

hi all;
i work on two different station
one with perl 5.6 and one with perl 5.8
with perl 5.6 the returned value of the pingecho function is always 0.otherwise with perl 5.8 pingecho returns 1 when the host is connected, if not 0.
if you have any idea i ll be glad to hear it.

Same happened here with 5.005_03 and 5.8.1 (the two versions I have). The older version of Perl has Net::ping version 2.02 where the new one is 2.31, which is the newest listed on CPAN. Might be worth checking, and maybe upgrade the old one.
