Enter the domain name and nameserver IP addresses of your ISP into /etc/resolv.conf. It should look something like this:

/etc/resolv.conf:
domain your.isp.com
nameserver 111.222.333.444 #primary
nameserver 555.666.777.888 #secondary d3funct
vanya43@yahoo.com
The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

/hi_there

try the dns-tool nslookup.
if nslookup connects to your dns-server there is no problem
with your DNSconfig, if you cant establish a connection then you might want to check your /etc/resolv.conf one more time.

>nslookup
Default Server : dns.at.isp.com
Adress : ###.###.###.###
> hostname.com

traceroute is also a good tool if you like to know tha path to the host, and if you have routingproblems. just,

>traceroute hostname.com

(simple) :)

good luck !
