I trying to stop the ping reply to external sources. the few things I have tried have not worked. any suggestions?

ping is disallowed by the firewall by default so it must have been allowed in one of the rules. just remove it out of the specific rule and it will be disallowed.

say you ping my external IP. it'll reply, that is allowed by default.

I would like to turn it off. I have tried rules and filters with no luck.

any ideas?

oh, thats what you ment. for as far as i know, that isn't possible. you can only sercure anything thats behind the firewall.
