i have two network connected over frame relay, 1750 routers.
when i ping from remote location to this site windows server and windows clients it works fine. when i try to ping to sco unix server it does not and also to as/400 servers. but the moment i start to ping from this unxi or as/400 server they also able to ping.
i could conclude this problem happens with Non windows systems. i have got a pix firewall in which to and from all systems allowed.

Any solution,

Ari

I would first verify my subnet mask on your two servers in question to ensure it correctly matches the rest of the network. Also what are you pinging, IP Address, computer name or host name? If you're pinging computer name or host name try to ping the IP Address. You can also run a "tracert" from any windows station to see where the breakdown is.

ie: tracert or 192.168.1.1

I have seen this with a few things.. one is the route tables on the hosts are not correct. The second is that the switch and connection to the hosts does not have "keep alives" set.. this means when you send a ping, you create an ARP entry which allows things to work for a short period of time until it dies out. This can be fixed either by turning on the keep alives or entering a static ARP entry.

There may be more ways but this is what I have seen personally :)
