What is the best (and most simplest) way to ping another computer in VB? I have a TCP-IP app called a Sender/Receiver. The Sender is installed on one pc, and the Receiver is installed on another pc.
If the Receiver goes down, the socket doesn't get closed properly, and this can cause problems.
What I would like to do is each time the sender makes a request to the Receiver (about once a minute), I would like to first ping the Receiver to make sure it's on line. If not, I would then wait another minute or so, and try pinging again.
Does this make any sense? Any help is greatly appreciated.
