Can any one tell me how the trunks are numbered on the system and why their numbered that way? I noticed they are numbered all over the place. I have to put a new key system in one of my location in about 6 weeks but never did this before. I know that the trunks are programmed one way and the digital sets another, any one have something clear, thanks!

Which system are you putting in, a CICS or MICS?
The reason the trunks appear to be "numbered all over the place" is because the slots for trunk cards can be used for many types of trunk cards internationally. Some trunk cards support 4 lines, some support up to 30 lines.
Your software level also makes a difference. Let us know your system type and software version, then we can give you more exacting information.

I have to order the system but I think it will be a CICS with Call Pilot 100. And I will probably use either CLID or DS cards...not sure yet. I assume since I am ordering this new it will be 6.0 or 6.1 software.

When you order the system you will get an installation manual. In the installation manual will be a chart for the wiring matrix.
It should make a bit moe sense once you read it.
It would be easier to explain and answer any of your questions oonce you have the chart in front of you.

Not sure about the CICS, (though it should be the same..), but one of the things that adds to the confusion for the MICS is that Nortel takes into account future expansion, and numbers accordingly.

Lynmar, on the CICS, your trunks will be 1,2,3,4 and 31,32,33,34 if 6.0 or 6.1.
Use 3 digit DN length to be able to use Hunt groups.
The default starting DN for your digital sets will be 221.
That should get you going.
