My customer is starting PIN Codes to make outbound calls starting on the 21st of this month. I have moved all the analog lines to a diffrent class of service so they will not need pin codes for those lines (faxes and modems). My big questions is can I change just the NCOS to accept the PINS instead of the phones throughout the building? It would solve a programming nightmare for me considering their are about 1200 phones in the building.

do you mean Authorization Codes or Charge Codes? or neither? I've never heard of PIN codes but maybe I'm just not familiar with them.

if they're charge codes you can change the FRL on the NCOS so that they can no longer call l.d. using that NCOS. If you're talking about something completely different then just ignore this.

Yes I was talking about Authorization codes.

How could I set this up to test it out using my phone before implementing across the system? Thanks again

you have to build the auth codes in LD 88. You need to assign a particular NCOS for the auth code. If NCOS 7 allows you to call nationwide and NCOS 4 only let's you dial local toll (examples) you can set your phone to NCOS 4, then build an auth code and assign NCOS 7 to that code. Then dial SPRE 6 plus the auth code and your phone will be at NCOS 7 for the duration of the call. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else or any other help.

the auth codes were built when the switch was installed. It is just a matter of turning them on for the users. I would like to test it out on my phone first.

I have tried to set this up with no luck so far, could you give me a walk through on how to set it up for my phone so I could test it out. Thanks.

Greg,

Just program your phone to bar you from making calls then you change the CLS to AUTHU ? on your phone. As long as the CLAS is set up in LD 88 to allow you to make calls then you should be ok

Greg never said what type of switch he is working on. AIf it is an 81, then Auth Codes is an extra package he has to buy. The Auth Code package came with the Option 11s, and I think it is the enhanced package so you don't have to enter a SPREE code.

Thank you all for your help with this. I got it to work.
