PIM Dense Mode

I would like to setup a Linux box as a multicast router and take advantage of the PIM-Dense protocol. Currently using NistNet as a WAN emulator and injecting fake latencies but would like to extend the router for mulitcasting. I have found several references to PIMD and gated and PIM-DENSE but mostly old. Anyone have a good idea where a good howto is to setup this server. Kernel is built (I think) to support this protocol.
