All:

My company lables customers as Green/Yellow/Red depending on how happy they are with our service.

I'm trying to do a pie chart in Crystal 8 Pro illustrating the percentage of clients with each rating. The best I can do is show Red as red and Yellow as yellow, but Green is shown in the chart as blue.

There doesn't seem to be a way of changing the colors used, and blue is always the first color in the sort order. I've tried greating another group called "None" for companies that have no ratings, and making that first in the order so it will be blue, but that has't worked.

Is there any way to control which colors are assigned to which value?

I haven't used CR 8 but I have used CR 7 charting quite a bit. You should be able to change the pie slice color a few ways. The easiest is to select the pie while you are in the preview mode. Right click and select "Chart Analyzer". Once in Chart Analyzer, right click on the pie slice you want to change. There should be an option "Change color...". Make sure that you ahve clicked on the pie slice. The options change depending on where you click.

If that doesn't work, go to "Chart Expert" instead of Chart Analyzer. You can do this from either the preview mode or design mode. Click Custom Chart then Chart Editor. Now select the appropriate slice. One way to change the color is to select the button farthest to the right with a paint brush on it (sorry, I don't know the technical name for it). This will produce a pallet of colors for you to choose. Here is where you can select green.

The exact phrasing/steps may be slightly different in CR 8 but hopefully this will give you some idea of how to change the colors.
Good luck!

Andie,

Your suggestion worked! Thanks!!

Well, with the help of Andie's tip, I was able to change the color of the pie in preview mode. I was unable to change the color in Design mode which I think I need to fix my problem. The pie chart is embedded in the Subreport. When I run the main report, it ignores all the color changes I made in preview mode.

Is there any solution for that?

Thanks. MS.

The colors are not assigned to a group, only to the sequence (first group is red, etc) so if a group is missing in one report, the groups may change to the next color.

Are you using the analyzer to change the colors?

My problem had very little to do with group. I had posted a new thread on this problem and someone who had experienced the same situation provided me with solution. I changed the color in preview mode through analyzer, then right-click and select "Apply changes to All charts." I also clicked "Save As Template" to be safe. It did what I wanted it to do.
