I did a search but could not find an answer. I'm sure someone has asked this before. Sometimes I get e-mails with photos inserted and the photo is not there. There is a box with a red X in the upper left corner. This does not happen all the time. Some e-mails have the pictures in the body of the e-mail okay. I went to Tools>Options >Security>Download Images and made sure the check box for "Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail" was not checked. It was not. What do I need to do to view the e-mails with photos inserted? Thanks, everyone. Larry

If you see them sometimes, it's probably a problem from the sender's side.

if your ISP has filters you need to check there to see if it is being blocked by them.

I have noticed the same issue with 3 of my users. The strange thing is that if they forward a message that they cannot see images in, after they forward it they coudl then see the images. I have also found that images such as a JPG logo in a signature should be locally copied on the machine, and then attached to resolve another red x issue.

More than likely the images are either java or Active X. Active X and Java are both blocked by default in Lotus notes and in some other programs. If it is web based email then it is being blocked by the ISP, impedded pictures will come through fine. In Notes you have to go into the server to change this, dont know how in outlook and on webbased email you can go into the advaced options and allow active content to run. That will sometimes correct the problem unless it is being blocked by the ISP.

LarryE -- I am having the same problem with a html page I created on my desktop. This is a page not yet published but access through IE6, File, Open, the page on the hard drive. My workstation desktop can see the images perfectly, of course.

Another desktop on my network cannot see the images, getting the same empty box with red X. I don't see how the problem can come from the ISP when in this case we're not even accessing the internet to view the page.

I've forwarded the page via email to two other computers not on our network. They can't access the images either.

I've tested the security level of the router on our network thoroughly and that seems to have no effect whatsoever.

My internet searching and troubleshooting on this issue continues. Please advise if you make any progress and I will do the same. Thanks for any help everyone.

It may have something to do with the version of MS Office / Outlook and the version of IE

MS has something about this on their KB
