Picture tubes

Are there some picture tubes with electronic component images and pc components. I would like to do some computer diagrams.

There are hundreds if not thousands of picture tubes on the web. Trying putting a search. There is bound to be one that has computer bits. If not it's pretty easy to create your own picture tube. Let me know if you need instructions.

I did a Google search of picture tubes and found many, many links to tubes but I didn't find any with technical symbols. If I get images of such symbols would you help me in creating Picture Tubes of them?
I have an old version of Visio (before it was sold to MS) and it contains many symbols I could use. In the past I have made many network/electronic/computer/workflow diagrams with Visio but it would be much easier if I could get them for PSP use.

Yes sure. I'm at work at the moment but I'll post a reply with instructions when I get home to my copy of PSP.

I just need to ask how you envisage using them though? When I read your initial post it looks as though you might want to place the items in particular places on the page and maybe at prescribed sizes. If so then a picture tube item may not be the best way to do it. Please post how you intend to use it and I'll help you the best I can.

Thank you for your kind offer. I have thought some more about what I wanted to do. I guess tubes may not be the function I want. In Visio ('94), I display a stencil containing object shapes on the left. I then click on a shape and drag&drop it someplace on a drawing where an instance (copy) of it appears. Since it's a vector I can stretch the shape to the size wanted.
Can the tube function work that way? Can you see all the images in the tube, select one and copy it to a desired position on a page.
What I do now is make a drawing of various objects in Visio then use the PSP capture function to select the Visio drawing and copy it to my PSP page. I can then select, copy and paste objects from the captured drawing as new layers and place them where I want on the page and merge the layers.
I wanted to eliminate the switching back & forth between Visio and PSP and the extra steps to get an object on a page.

I suggest then that tubes is not the way to go. Perhaps you could create a psp document (base) that includes all your pictures on separate layers. Have that document open along with the new one you are creating. Have the layers pallete open and click on your base document. Click on the layer containing the object you want in your new document and drag it into the new one. Remember to name each of the layers in the base document so that you can readily spot which one you need.

Try it with a simple base document first so you don't waste your time. Keep it as a PSP document or it may flatten the layers and you won't be able to use it in the way you want.

Thanks for the interesting alternative procedure. I think that using layers for each of some 30 objects would be about equivalent to using a single image with 30 objects. In both procedures, an object is selected, copied, pasted as a layer on a page, moved around and flattened. In the "multi layer image" case an object layer is selected to be copied while in the "multi object single image" case an object is selected to be copied.
I guess that if it's done frequently one could start out with the "multi object single image" and after selecting, copying and placing the object on page A you could also place the object as a layer on page B and not flattened and keep using page B for all objects copied . Page B saved in PSP format then becomes the "multi layer image".
(I do too much thinking!!)

You're not really doing the process quite as you say. In fact on your base document all you do is click on the layer and drag and drop it. No copying or pasting. So it's quicker than that.

PSP does not really allow multiple objects on one single layer. It will always create a new layer for the object added to the document. At least that's how it works for me. (I stand corrected if anyone knows of a different way of doing it. )

Anyway, good luck with it. PSP is a great package and I'm sure you'll soon work out a way to do this efficiently. And I'll keep my thinking cap on in case inspiration hits me!

Once you copy an object you have 5 choices for pasting.
1) new image
2) new layer
3) new selection
4) transparent selection
5) into selection

The procedure I most often use is copy and paste as a new layer. You can also select 2 or more objects at a time and paste it as a new layer, giving you multiple objects on one single layer.
