Hi,
I am updating a tax report which has a form in picture format on the background and our textboxes on the front. It's around 1 MB. I don't know how the previous developer did it but that is actually a low number. Because I went online downloaded the new 2006 tax as pdf, using screenshots I saved it jpg, but crystal (I believe is pasting as bmp anyway) the result is 3.5 MB. I tried reducing the (printscreened) screenshot but then the characters appear not clear. Two pictures (two pages) and it's 3.5 MB. I cannot put this on the server...Is there any trick I can do? Are there any other format other than bmp? and does it give smaller size files?
Thanks very much in advance

BMP is notoriously large.

There are a few tricks you might try, including copying and pasting. Otherwise try downloading the shareware program PAintShop Pro, it allows for converting BMPs to lower resolution JPGs, so you should be able to tweak it.

Check out for paintshop.

But I think the crystal reports is converting to bmp anyway if you start with jpg (unless I can specifically start with a format that crystal directly accepts). I am starting with a JPG 100KB and you know the rest. I can also start with a pdf, too if possible.

Is the application you have recommended do anything special that XP's Paint cannot do, because I already used paint and had 100KB.
Thanks
