Here's a weird one. A file created in InDesign, from scratch. It's a flyer with only text and a few rectangles for framing text. When printing as .indd it prints the correct size (6" wide x 3" high) on the paper.

But if I do File | Export and save it as JPEG it shrinks the whole thing to about 3" wide and blurry. The compression setting chosen was Maximum so why is it blurrying it? and Why is it shrinking it?

JPG export does not retain size/resolution data or the app you are using to print does not respect any size/resolution data from that JPG file. JPG export from InDesign is not intended for normal printing.

If you need to export with size info, export as PDF.

If you want control over JPG output, take that PDF into Photoshop and save a JPG from there.
