I have a table in a Word document that is populated from a form.

Over the table I have a picture (In fron of text) of a map with the primary color set to transparent so you can see the underlying grid and data.

When I bring up the form and change the data criteria the picture disappears and I have to re-insert the picture, do the resize etc.

Any one know why it would disappear?

And If so, how can I prevent / fix it?

Is the picture linked to some text you are deleting?

See if the properties are move object with text is checked?

Look at putting the picture as a "waterdrop"

select picture
cut
view headers & footers
Paste Picture

Thanks ck1999,

The picture is just inserted and set to "In Front" through the picture menu.

I unchecked the "Move with text"

In Layout I checked and set "Absolute Position"

I tried "Lock Anchor"

All with no success

Using the "Header and Footer" I was able to get the picture over the table but I could not get it "In front of Text".

Part of the problem is the table field turns green if it has data and that covers up the picture, that is why I am using "In front of Text

What do you mean by "change the data criteria"?

Since this is in the vba forum are you running vba to change data if so post code.

Also, if you are running code to change data have you thought about using macro recorder to record your steps about inserting, resize, set transparence, in front of text. And then run this code after the other code or as an independendt macro.

This document is part of a monthly report for the fire department I work for.

The form allows you to change the month and year for the document and fills 12 different tables. The last table has 14 columns and 14 rows, each cell represents a 1/2 mile square block that coresponds to a map page.

Each call has the "District" (Map page) in the report and the table displays districts where there are more then one "emergency call" are going on at the same time.

The fire Chief likes the graphic value of the map and districts in the report since the City Council can not relate to district "0606", but they do know where fire station 1 is and the intersection of Shaw and Bullard.

The code is working fine, I would post it but I'm not at work.

I have not tried placing the picture through code yet, that might be my next move.

When I get to work tomorrow I'll post the codee that populates that table.

My guess is that when the table takes focus it moves to the front and for some reason the picture goes away.

I understand the pictures are stored in a different layer then text, not sure what layer the tables sit in.
