I have looked for a post that had exextly what is happening and could not. You guys have really helped me in the past. We have 12 lines in our Avaya Partner ACS Release 7.0.42. The second line will blink then go solid, however there is no one on there. When you pickup that line you faintly here "Goodbye". Also when I came in for the past 2 days I could not get into our voice mail. So I backed up the data and restarted. Voice mail was back but so was the blinking line 2 with the Goodbye message. This lines is also a part of a roll over group of lines. It is second in the list. I disconnected the line but that broke the hunt group so there was no more roll over. This is very frustrating, please advise! Thanks again in advance for your comments.

Make sure your V.M. extensions are correct in group 7.
That "googbye" you are hearing is your voicemail hanging up when you answer the call.
If you list your equipment in order someone here will verify with you what they should be.

Thanks for getting back so fast. I will get the numbers off the modules. I should have them memorized, but I only work on them they break. I will get them to you soon.

Make sure your V.M. extensions are correct in group 7." I checked this and not one line is set, keep in mind I did not do the initial install, we paid a professional?!? However when I call in I can still be put into voicemail. How is it that it still works with all extensions not assigned. To view this I did "Feature 0 0 System Program x2 and #505. I am a little confused. [bomb]

Yes, #505, then enter ext 10, and scroll through all the extensions and it will show either 1-Assigned or 2-Not Assigned. The only 2 extensions assigned should be 34 and 35.

#505 tells the phone system what extension ports are used by voicemail.
#310 asigns a users extension to cover to voicemail when not answered.

1. In your first post you said you have an ACS R7,but when you posted the list of you equipment, you said ACS R3.
WHICH IS IT?

2. 34,and 35 is correct for an ACS R3
35 and 36 is correct for an ACS R7

R3.0 is what is physically on the modules. The messaging software is Release 7.0.42. I will look in the #310 menu.

Hit feature 59 on a display phone and tell us what is says.

Feature F59 P ACS R4.0 C01

I changed the extentions from 34 and 35 to 35 and 36. Do I need to reboot the system in order for this to take effect?
The reason I ask is my original problem is still there. Line 2 still has the "Goodbye" message when you pick it up.

i will bet that you have a bad line port. call the phone company to busy out that line and disconnect the line from the switch and see. by having the co busy out that line it will not break your hunt just cut you down a line.

Or move line 2 to another port and see if happens there. but i have seen it a bunch of times the port is bad so it trips the vmail system your aa and the disconnects. i have seen it on partners, magix and ip offices

I will try moving the lines. You are talking about he port that comes from the telco to the Avaya box right? I am also guesing that worse case senario is that I would have to replace a module.
Thanks for your advice. I will test it out.

the line port on the avaya card would be bad. so yes either replace the module. easiest but most expensive.
or move that line to another free port and reprogram accordingly. Also is the goodbye voice faint or normal. If it is faint. you may have crosstalk on the line.

I disconnected line 2 and swapped it with another. Our it seems to be working fine. Thanks you guys are great.
I also had to switch back to 34 and 35 because when I changes things via #505 to 35 and 36 all calls were going direct to voicemail. I switched back and we are good. No more blinking lines with no one there or the "Goodbye" when you pick it up. Tek-Tips rocks!!
