Hi all, I wanted to know if it would make sense to do the following?

catalyst 2950<---Gigabit/Cat6--->Hub<---many 10/100 NIC's

We will have a basic star topology. I'm assuiming that the Hub in question would have to be able to handle gigabit and 10/100. (as would the switch).
Does anyone have any resources for calculating metrics for how much traffic can traverse a 10/100 link before upgrading to Gigabit would be a good idea?
If you can imagine, the above has a 10/100 between the switch and the hub--I want to know whether swapping to cat6/gigabit would increase speed enough to be useful. All things being equal of course and I'm aware of many caveats here(applications etc).

If you are going to use the C2950s, I would use the ones with the GBIC slots. This way you can use fiber to tie the switches together and not have any copper problems and get Gigabit transmission.

Hope this helps!
