I have a TZ180 configured as the gateway on my internal network providing DHCP and NAT. The firewall is connected to a switch via a LAN port. I have the servers internal adapter (fixed IP) and external adapter (fixed IP) connected to the switch. Internet access on the network is fine but outlook clients on the network are unable to send email via exchange (smtp error).
I'm checking out various possibilities as to why this is happening but one might be the physical setup. Should I have the servers external adapter connected to the switch or should it be connected to a port on the TZ180.
I'm also unable to access the intranet from outside the network. Should I have a port open on the firewall?

WAN IP address = 80.169.200.30
TZ180 LAN IP = 192.168.16.1
server IP ext = 192.168.16.3
server IP int = 192.168.16.2
switch IP = 192.168.16.10

I would start with the simple things first and actually ignore the SonicWall as you mentioned Exchange.

Is Exchange setup properly to allow the LAN to send out through it?

Can you send out email using a standard POP3 / SMTP account from site (by using something like GMAIL?)? You can quickly setup a client to do this test.

Can you telnet on port 25 to your exchange server? Can you telnet to your external smtp server?

Thanks.

Both IP addresses on your server are on the same subnet??? What's that about?

Kill one of the NICs and be done with it or bond the NIC(s) together if they are capable for redundancy/ throughput.
