I am having problems booting my Dell Laptop. It was refurbished and we loaded Windows XP Professional. Everything was working fine last night. Upon booting the machine this morning, it thinks the system was shutdown improperly. It will check the disk (scans) and then perform a physical dump to memory. The screen with the error message about the dump goes off the screen so fast, I can't read it. I'm able to get bits and pieces from the screen like "Log may be corrupt" and "System Report" and "Registry", but nothing that makes sense. I've reseated the memory, not sure if that would help. I've tried booting in Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Normal Mode, Debugger Mode and they all produce the same results. Any suggestions?

Looks like I was able to get a portion of the error message. It states that "The registry could not load the hive".

Hi,
Try booting from the XP cd and having it repair the existing installation if it can..
