Hi Guys,

Is there a simple (or not so simple) way I can work out what the cabinet layout of a 61 or 81 is from the configuration (e.g. Loops / Cards / TN's)

I'm trying to draw a physical cabinet layout without actually seeing the system (e.g. only have remote access)

Any help would be appreciated.

You can run inventory in LD 117, however that will not get you give you several common equipment parts/locations.

No, I'm doing that already, what I need to know is this:-

If I have a list of Cards and their loop/tn's, is there any formula I can use to represent this information as physical cabinets

e.g. On an Option 11, I know that loops 0 - 10 are Cabinet 1

The cabinet layout is deduced from the

LD 97
REQ PRT
TYPE XPE

That's where the installer was supposed to identify column locations.

It finds card locations based on controllers using:

OVL000
>LD 32

NPR000
.IDCS 02 (with "2" being the controller card in this example)

I did that LD97 thing and this is what it displayed:-

So what is this telling me exactly? I know that this site has 2 columns of 3 cabinets.

I don't think anything you can get remotely will tell you how the cabinets and columns are physically located. For instance, you can gather enough info to tell you what is in network groups 0 and 1 but you can't be sure the installer stacked the modules in the "proper" locations without looking at it. So you can't be sure how network groups 0 and 1 are physically placed.

What your XPE print is telling you is that you have 1 IPE shelf that uses Superloop 16 and Controller 1.

And in the posted example, nobody filled out the "LOC" portion either. So it just got harder. Here's an example of a site where they made an attempt. But you still can't be sure what is stacked on what and if column 2 is next to 3 or what. The other site (BHD_MH) is carrier remote. I know there are two columns, each with three mods (cuz I've been there), but I could not tell remotely.

Ok - assuming for the moment that the engineer didn't document the layout in LD 97 (Shock... horror....), is there a 'generic' layout I can assume for the 51/61/81 etc.

I have done it for the 11/11c, and that seems to be good to go, but I'm having a problem with the bigger switches.

There is no generic layout, and the columns don't even need to be bolted to each other. In fact, you could even have a mix of AC and DC powered columns in some cases.

What I would do is give up on column locations and just obtain as much card info as you can. Maybe someone could take a picture of it from the site.

Most of the time, installers will at least label the cabinets correctly, even though they are not stacked right. I've seen some very messed up installs, but luckily the cabinets have always been labeled properly.
