Fascinating, especially the word tree diagrams. I certainly did not find anything particularly surprising, as I worked many years in a fairly rigid hierarchy. However, the precise technical analysis was very interesting.

 
I agree, fascinating but not surprising. I would even go as far as to postulate that the language used reflects both the power AND dependency level between the individuals. Of course, these two factor determine the type of work relationship you build with that person and this in turn would tend to be expressed in a certain manner.
 
Though fascinating, it leaves an open question in my mind...

how large was the company that these emails came from?

basically, I would suspect a rather large company where the employees are usually not face to face with the bosses, than a smaller company, where the boss and the employee know each other closer...
